Christmas is coming! While it is indeed a spending season, it is also a good time to do business and earn extra cash. It is the time of the year when people spend more than they usually do, and that makes it a good time to do business. Who knows? Your Christmas business might just become a regular livelihood that will make you financially stable . Here are some business ideas applicable in the Philippines that you can try this Christmas season:

1. Christmas treats or food
This perhaps is the most common and easiest to sell. If you know how to bake, make candies or chocolates, cook delicious Christmas meals or make usual Filipino favorites like kakanin, leche flan, ube halaya, etc, go ahead and start taking orders in your neighborhood, at school or at work (if the company allows it). Even if you don’t know how to cook or bake, if you know where to get the said products at a lower price, this could still work. Just buy your products and sell them with a markup. Christmas is a time for delicious food, so a food business would surely be a good idea.

2. Rent out your vacant space
Have a garage or a space that you don’t really use? If you want to earn money this Christmas but  don’t really feel like selling any stuff, best option is to just rent out your vacant space to people who needs a space for their business. Be sure to clean the space first before offering it to prospects, as a clean and nice looking space would surely get a good price as well.

3. Meat, chicken, seafood or fiesta ham

Do you know where to buy fiesta ham, seafood, chicken or meat at a lower price? If you do, then this business might be perfect for you. Though people can always buy these items at the supermarket, a lot of people still hesitate to buy these goods due budget considerations, and of course, traffic. If you know where you could buy the said products at a lower price and you can make arrangements with the supplier or seller, you could try offering it to your friends or neighbors on installment basis. You may charge them half of the price upon placing their orders and the remaining amount upon delivery or pick-up of their order. Be sure to inform them that if they wish to cancel their order, they should inform you at least 1 week ahead so you may inform the supplier about the changes in the quantity of your orders ahead of time. You need to know cancellations as early as possible, because if you fail to do so, you might end up paying for the canceled orders as well.

4. Clothes, shoes and bags

Aside from being a time for good food, Christmas is also a time for dressing up in style. A lot of people would surely spend on clothes, bags, shoes and other fashion items this Christmas in order to look good for their Christmas party or gathering. So if you have a source for affordable and good quality clothes, shoes and bags, you might want to start taking orders now. However, since these items are usually a bit pricey, you might want to offer it on installment basis.

5. Alcoholic beverage, cigarette, soda (soft drinks) and ice

For some people, Christmas will not be complete without a drinking session (inuman). And since beer or alcoholic drinks require ice, it would be best to sell ice as well. But to complete the combo, you might also want to sell cigarettes and soda.

6. Rent a car

If you have a vehicle and you won’t be going out that much this Christmas, you may try offering your vehicle and driving services to people who need to go to events, especially parties or gatherings for a fee. Be sure that you tune up your vehicle before offering it, as having a car trouble on your way to your customer’s destination would surely result to customer dissatisfaction; not to mention the hassle of having to push the vehicle and the cost of repairs.

7. Charcoal and kerosene

Ihaw-ihaw (grilling) is a sure thing for most households during Christmas and New Year. Take note though that for this business, the best strategy is to buy your supplies ahead of time, as supply of these products is very low during Christmas season due to the high demand.

8. Toys and accessories
Because Christmas is also the happiest time of the year for kids, it is also the right time to sell things that kids would really like. If you know where to buy toys and accessories for a low price, you might just earn good profit from this business. Just make sure that the items you will be selling are not too expensive, as kids would probably use their money earned from 'karoling', which is of course, not that much.
